My wife and I attended the LA Film Festival this weekend and viewed Baghead by the Duplass Brothers (Puffy Chair) and Pressure Cooker by Jennifer Grausman and Mark Becker.
Both were wonderful movies and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed watching a movie when the directors and cast were present.  It made the experience much more energetic and alive, almost akin to a concert.  Perhaps adding a live element is needed in cinema, which would, in many ways, be like going back to its roots.
